Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Cornwall & District is hiring for a Caseworker

1 year contract for 3 days a week (21 hours)

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Caseworker is responsible for maintaining and supporting mentoring matches within Cornwall and SD&G Area. The Caseworker provides mentoring options to children, families and volunteers. The Caseworker is responsible for completing the screening, monitoring and on going community support to mentoring matches on their caseload and to meet the over arching goals of Big Brothers Big Sisters Cornwall work plan.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Recruit and support volunteers to participate in mentoring matches in the Cornwall community and surrounding area.
-Assist with the enrolment team in screening volunteers as needed.
-Conduct scheduled interviews of volunteers, children, and families as per relevant standards, processes, and recruitment targets.
-Complete interview write-ups, assessments and make recommendations.
-Create and support a variety of new and existing mentoring matches for the children and volunteers within SD&G and all other matches on said caseload.
-Encourage and support the families of the children seeking support from BBBS Cornwall & District.
-Liaise with community organizations to crate and maintain partnerships and volunteers that address the needs of children and families in Cornwall & District.
-Collaborate with the In School Mentoring Coordinator to help support this program when needed.

Position Requirements / Exigences du poste

The ideal candidate would possess:
-A University or College Diploma Social Work, Psychology or Sociology
-2 years of experience working in a community agency focusing on providing social services
-Good understanding of the SD&G communities, their organizations, resources and other support system available
-Ability to communicate effectively and have good written and oral communication.
-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
