OLYMEL in Cornwall is hiring for a full time Production Supervisor (Evenings)

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will be responsible for the training and the communication of expectations, standards, results and feedback for the employees in their department. The Production Supervisor will work with their employees to ensure that all objectives are met, the Collective Agreement is respected and a positive workplace climate is maintained. The Production Supervisor will also communicate with other departments and attend meetings as part of the overall collaborative effort in goal attainment. In addition, the Production Supervisor manages quality by ensuring compliance with HACCP/SQF; good manufacturing practices and ensures compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities

Assign work with instruction objectives during start-up and throughout the shift;

1. Communicate expectations/operational objectives/standards to employees;
2. Follow-up on work assignments;
3. Quantify variances to manpower needs;
4. Communicate efficiency & quality results to employees;
5. Identify and solve problems with employees;
6. Implement method changes/conduct tasks analysis;
7. Provide feedback (positive & constructive) to employees;
8. Hold shift start meetings with employees;
9. Ask employees for availability for overtime;
10. Follow-up on company policies (discipline, Health & Safety, HACCP/SQF);
11. Ensure Collective Agreement is applied and respected;
12. Identify, plan, provide and follow up on employee training (new employees, cross-training, Health & Safety, HACCP/SQF, etc.);
13. Analyze and fill-out reports and documents;
14. Participate in scheduled meetings (Transition/Production/Planning/Special Projects, Performance Variance Control Review);
15. Enter invoicing data;
16. Collaborate with other supervisors (Production, Maintenance, and Shipping) to ensure fulfillment of manpower needs;
17. Have a constant presence on the floor;
18. Manage emergencies and solve problems in a timely manner;
19. Meet and communicate informally;
20. Participate in and adhere to all Health and Safety policies and regulations;
21. Other duties as assigned.
