Alexandria Moulding is a leading moulding manufacturer and distributor of wood and wood composite mouldings in North America & the world and is currently comprised of five distinct facilities within Canada and the United States. Alexandria Moulding has grown into Canada’s largest wood moulding manufacturer and is also North America’s leading Manufacturer retail marketer and distributor of mouldings.

Scope of Position:

Under limited supervision, the Supply Chain Buyer/Planner performs planning, purchasing and inventory management activities in support of the sales and operation plan. Considerable independent judgment and decision making in carrying out assignments is expected. The role requires working in a centralized planning structure with multiple manufacturing and distribution centers. Constant interaction with inside and outside sales, suppliers, management, product line management, shop floor employees, freight forwarders, intermodal, container and trucking traffic should be expected.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Detailed planning from historical and forecasted data using MRP system including Purchase Order processing to ensure timely delivery of product in line with fill rate and inventory objectives
  • Ensure any deviation from the plan is promptly identified, analyzed, and reported to effected parties, final arrival impact is estimated, and the appropriate corrective actions is taken and monitored.
  • Execute demand replenishment, providing feedback to management on risks regarding replenishment levels and demand
  • Review and challenge order policy, minimums, lead times, safety stock, fill rate and inventory turns
  • Minimize excess and potentially obsolete inventory
  • Maintain adequate documentation and files for suppliers
  • Update and maintain planning, scheduling, and costing information in systems
  • Work with suppliers to develop continuous improvement programs to improve quality and reduce purchase cost
  • Compiles data and prepares reports as requested and require by Management
  • Able to manage all logistics activities associated with delivery including ocean, inter-modal and trucking

Major Skills and Competencies:

  • English language skills both oral and written, Bilingualism in both French and English would be an asset
  • Anticipate changes in work demands and participate in assignments or training that address these changing demands
  • Demonstrate skill in effective communicating, problem solving and negotiating
  • Good facilitator and leader of individuals or groups who do not directly report to the function
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to relate to and work with diverse groups of people
  • Possess analytical thinking and be able to take initiative to make decision
  • Energetic, self-motivated and dynamic with excellent strategic and operational skills
  • Teamwork and collaboration with internal and external customers
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and materials. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
  • Identify risks that affect supply, transformation, delivery and customer demand
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, high volume activity and establish priorities in a changing environment
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priority
  • Detail oriented

Salary: $60,000 to $65,000 based on experience

Position Requirements / Exigences du poste

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 75% of the time while operating a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, printer, and/or copy machine.
  • Must be able to move about the office and position self to access file cabinets, copy machine, etc.
  • This position frequently communicates with employees who have inquiries about product tracking or status. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must be able to regularly move or lift boxes weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.

Required Credentials:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in manufacturing buying, planning, negotiating in high volume manufacturing environment
  • Post Collegiate or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of AX Microsoft Dynamic 2012 will be considered a strong asset
  • CPIM certification or other similar Supply Chain designation will be considered a strong asset
  • Microsoft proficient
